We built the tool we wished existed when we were hunting for a flat.
Every rental portal in India sorts flats by price. What they don't show you is that a ₹15,000 flat 30 km from your office is not cheaper than a ₹22,000 flat that's 15 minutes away — not when you add up two years of cab bills, two hours of daily commuting, and the slow drain on your health and attention.
Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Pune are the three cities where this problem is most acute. IT corridors sprawl over 30–40 km. Peak-hour traffic turns a 12 km commute into a 75-minute ordeal. The gap between rent on paper and total monthly cost in practice can be ₹8,000–15,000 per month — which over two years of a typical job stint is a significant amount of money silently leaving your account.
Rentowise was built to close that gap. Enter your office. See every neighbourhood ranked by what you'll actually pay — rent plus commute, together, in one number.
Commute times are computed using the OpenRouteService API on the OpenStreetMap road network, then adjusted with zone-specific peak-hour multipliers derived from published city traffic surveys and observed rush-hour speeds. We show you what your 8 AM commute actually looks like — not what Google Maps shows you at 3 AM.
Rent data is sourced from current market listings and cross-validated across multiple sources. We publish the median, not the mean, to avoid distortion from outlier luxury listings. Each page shows the date of the most recent data update.
Transport costs use official government-notified fare structures — Karnataka RTA rates for cabs and autos, Namma Metro published pass prices, BMTC monthly pass fare, and estimated petrol + depreciation for own vehicles. We don't inflate or round numbers to look better.
Rentowise is not a rental listing platform. We don't have flats available for booking. We don't take broker commissions or referral fees. There are no sponsored results — every neighbourhood ranking is based purely on the numbers.
We are a data and decision tool. Once you know which area makes sense for your commute and budget, you go to the regular portals (or the no-brokerage platforms) to find the actual flat. We just help you know where to look — before you waste weekends viewing flats in the wrong part of the city.
